Augmented Satellite Launch Vehicle (ASLV)

Augmented Satellite Launch Vehicle (ASLV)

The success of SLV was followed with the development of advanced version of SLV called Augmented Satellite Launch Vehicle (ASLV).
ASLV was incorporated 2 Numbers of strapons similar to that of the first stage.
The vehicle is designed to carry about 100 Kg spacecraft to the low earth orbit.
The first development flight was in 1987 from SHAR which mal-functioned during the first stage burn out period.
However, the third development flight of ASLV during 1992 placed the Stretched Rohini Satellite Series (SROSS) in the desired low earth orbit successfully.
